Spring Nail Picks

I'm not a beauty blogger by any means, nor am I particularly experienced when it comes to all things beauty or nail related. I do however really enjoy doing my nails, especially during spring time as I love the colour varieties and brights and pastels and all that. I have recently bought a few too many spring nail polishes and some of them are definitely perfect for this time of the year so I thought I'd share them with you in case you are still looking for some spring nails.

The polish names can be found in the descriptions, also I used the Orly Bonder Basecoat and the Rimmel Ultra Shine Topcoat. Also, this post is not sponsored by any brand I just happen to have placed a Model's Own order a few weeks ago so I'm currently trying out all these spring-y shades.

Speckled Egg Nails
this is a polish that Model's Own have recently brought out and since I currently love nail polish and it seemed perfect for easter I couldn't help but get it (it's the speckled eggs polish in Magpie Green). I tried it for the first time shortly before we went away to Croatia, that's why there are stones in the pictures as I took them while I was by the seaside.

Easter Instagram Photo Challenge

We hope you're all geared up for Easter and excited about the long weekend! To get you even more excited, we've got a fantastic Instagram Photo Challenge for you.
It's pretty simple, all you have to do is take a photo of each item on the list on that day, upload it to your Instagram account and tag us in it! Told you it was simple.

Make sure you follow us on Instagram and then you can use our handle @fellowshipofthebloggers to tag us in the photo and use the hashtag #FOTBeggs so we know it's part of the challenge!

Get as creative as you like with this challenge, it'll be amazing to see what you come up with. And at the end of the weekend, we'll be doing a photo challenge round up! If your photo makes the list, we'll link to your Instagram account and let everyone know it was your piece of art.

Holiday Bonnets

Kids are generally a good excuse for making all the cute little things you fancy, without having to admit that it's you who is the most excited about opening the packets of fluffy balls in assorted colours.
I'm a girl who would happily wear everything worn by Jess in "New Girl", including the slightly eccentric items worn on occasion, so here's my Easter contribution to my inner child.
As a side note, if you've not already seen New Girl but like easy to watch comedies, then it's a fun watch.  I was recommended it not so long back by Sunae (visit here @sunaefoal) and ended up watching the first two seasons in the space of three weeks.

All you need are plain hats (like for most of my craft items, I visited Hobbycraft, I've seen all the components in Tesco seasonal aisle recently.), foam shapes, fluffy coloured pom-poms, anything else you fancy sticking on, and some kids to blame it on!

Let us know if you have some good television recommendations for this Easter bank holiday weekend.

DIY Flower Crowns

I've lusted after flower crowns for a long time and if you follow me on Twitter, you'll know all about my love for the hair accessory. But it's been really difficult to find one that I absolutely love and want to pay for. A lot of them are either not what I want or so expensive I can't afford them anyway.
So after a bit of research, I decided to dive into the world of DIY Flower Crowns.

Excuse any bad photography, I was also watching Green Street while doing this and if you know anything about Charlie Hunnam, you'll understand how I could get distracted.

Also, I have to point out that these flowers cost me very little. The long yellow and pink garlands were only $2.50 each and they have roughly 50 flowers on them so that's a lot of flower crown for not a lot of money. The larger flowers cost a little more but I bought fewer because they would act as the center piece of the headband.

  • Fake Flowers
  • Floral Wire (various colours)
  • Floral Tape
  • Wire Cutters
  • Scissors
  • Beads
I started off by measuring my head with the floral wire, adding two thumbs worth of wire and then chopping it to size. That should fit around your head nicely. I wrapped the wire around at the ends and tucked it around itself so there aren't any wire ends poking through.
Then I trimmed the fake flowers to the size I wanted and attached them to the wire headband with more floral wire. I spent a while arranging the flowers so they suited the headpiece and looked the way I wanted.

I also strung beads on some floral wire and worked that into my floral crowns (I made more than one).
When I was happy with my flower crown, I used floral tape to hide any wire I didn't want on show.

I also wanted to make the headband a bit bigger so it can be adjusted depending on people's head size.

Are you going to make your own flower crown?
If you do, pop it on Instagram and tag us @fellowshipofthebloggers with the #FOTBspring

Easter Bouquet Decorations

As far as public holidays go Easter is by far my favourite.  Comparing it to Christmas, the weather warmer, the decorations are cuter, and radio stations haven't yet fond any songs about it which they feel the need to roll out year on year.
It's also a time for spring flowers, and each year I've made a tradition for myself of making sure during April at least we have fresh flowers at home to welcome in the season.  With the kids off school we like to craft our way through the holidays to put some use to the mass of art and craft equipment I have stashed around the place, so this weekend we made Easter egg shaped bouquet decorations, ideal to add some colour to the house.

Easter is Here!

Phew, wasn't March a bit cray-cray?
Loads of things happened during the third month of 2014 and I'm sure the fourth will be no different. Except this month is going to be of Biblical proportions...get it? Yeah, Easter is on the way!
So I've compiled a list of Easter freebies and DIY's you can use this month in preparation for chocolate egg day. Just click any images to be taken to the original source.
Enjoy!
